Rabbit Anti-Connexin 43 (Cx43, Gap Junction alpha 1 Protein, CxA-1, Gap Junction 43kD Heart Protein, GJA1, GJAL)

Gap junctional intercellular communication is thought to play a key role in development and may also be involved in epilepsy. Connexin43 (Cx43) forms gap-junctional channels and regulates the permeability of these gap junctions to small organic molecules. Permeability of Cx43 is known to be regulated by phosphorylation at Ser368 by protein kinase C. Phosphorylation of Ser368 by PKC induces a conformational change of Cx43 that results in a decrease in gap junction permeability.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 2ug/ml Immunohistochemistry: 1-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Peptide mapping at the C-terminus of human Connexin 43. Species sequence homology: identical to rat and mouse.
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, pH 7.4, 50% glycerol. Reconstitute with 500ul sterile PBS.
Purity
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human Connexin 43. Species Crossreactivity: mouse, rat.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
