Mouse Anti-Cytokeratin 18

Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins and are characterized by a remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in Human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between 40kD and 68kD and isoelectric pH between 4.9 – 7.8. The individual Human Cytokeratins are numbered 1 to 20. The various epithelia in the Human body usually express Cytokeratins which are not only characteristic of the type of epithelium, but also related to the degree of maturation or differentiation within an epithelium. Cytokeratin subtype expression patterns are used to an increasing extent in the distinction of different types of epithelial malignancies.

Applications
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Immunohistochemistry: paraffin Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Cytoskeletal preparation of human bladder carcinoma cell line T24
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 0.09% sodium azide.
Purity
Purified IgG from culture supernatant.
Specificity
Recognizes human Cytokeratin 18. Reacts exclusively with human glandular epithelial cells of the digestive, respiratory and urogenital tracts, endocrine and exocrine cells and mesothelial cells as well as adenocarcinomas originating from them. Recognizes human only. Does not react with other species.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
