Rabbit Anti-Eukaryotic Translation Initiation Factor 4H (eIF4H)

A variety of factors contribute to the initiation of translation. Eukaryotic initiation factor 4H (eIF4H) was purified to near homogeneity from rabbit reticulocyte lysate and shown to stimulate translation in an assay deficient in eIF4F and eIF4B (1). eIF4H induces the RNA-dependent ATP hydrolysis catalyzed by the initiation factors eIF4A and eIF4B (1,2). eIF4H was further shown to stimulate the initial rate and extent of eIF4A-mediated mRNA secondary structure unwinding (3).

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 1:1000, incubate membrane with diluted antibody in 5% w/v BSA, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween-20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight. Immunofluorescence (IC): 1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence of human eIF4H.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 10mM sodium HEPES, pH 7.5, 150mM sodium chloride, 0.1mg/ml BSA, 50% glycerol.
Purity
Purified by Protein A and peptide affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Detects endogenous levels of total eIF4H protein (both long and short isoforms). Species Crossreactivity: mouse, monkey and rat

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
