Rabbit Anti-HGF, CT (Hepatocyte Growth Factor, Scatter Factor, SF, Hepatopoeitin A, HGF, HPTA)

Hepatocyte growth factor regulates cell growth, cell motility, and morphogenesis by activating a tyrosine kinase signaling cascade after binding to the proto-oncogenic c-Met receptor. Hepatocyte growth factor is secreted by mesenchymal cells and acts as a multi-functional cytokine on cells of mainly epithelial origin. Its ability to stimulate mitogenesis, cell motility, and matrix invasion gives it a central role in angiogenesis, tumorogenesis, and tissue regeneration. It is secreted as a single inactive polypeptide and is cleaved by serine proteases into a 69-kD alpha-chain and 34-kD beta-chain. A disulfide bond between the alpha and beta chains produces the active, heterodimeric molecule. The protein belongs to the plasminogen subfamily of S1 peptidases but has no detectable protease activity. Alternative splicing of this gene produces multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Transcript Variant: This variant encodes the longest isoform. To date, experimental evidence for cleavage of the proprotein into two mature chains has been shown only for isoform 1.

Applications
Suitable for use in Indirect Flow Cytometry, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Other applications have not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Indirect Flow Cytometry: 1:10-1:50 Western Blot: 1:1000 Immunohistochemistry (FFPE): 1:50-1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide mapping to a fragment of residues within amino acids 521-554 in the C-terminal region of human HGF.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.09% sodium azide.
Purity
Purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation followed by dialysis against PBS.
Specificity
Recognizes human HGF.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
