Rabbit Anti-Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1b)

Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1b) and Interleukin 1 alpha (IL-1a) have very similar biological activities on many different cell types although they are derived from different genes and share only ~20% aa sequence homology. IL-1b is synthesized as pro-IL-1b in cells and is cleaved to produce active IL-1b by Interleukin-1b converting enzyme (ICE), a cytoplasmic cysteine protease which is also known as caspase-1.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot. The antibody is not neutralizing when tested in a proliferation assay. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Recombinant porcine IL-1b.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2. No preservative added.
Purity
Purified by Protein G affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes porcine IL-1b. Does not react with porcine IL-1a.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
