Rabbit Anti-Ly6K (Lymphocyte Antigen 6K, Ly-6K, CO16)

Ly-6 antigens are a group of highly homologous, GPI anchored surface proteins which might have a role in cell adhesion and signaling in Keratinocytes. These proteins are highly expressed in several cancers including HNSCC. Ly-6K has been identified as a novel member of this family using comprehensive gene-screening and expression analysis. It is a human homolog of murine ly-6K and is located on chromosome 8q24. It consists of 10 conserved cysteine residues and harbors a sequence that theoretically determines GPI anchoring. It is selectively expressed in HNSCC and normal squamous cells. Its expression has also been observed in HNSCC cell lines devoid of E48 antigen. Ly-6K can be further evaluated as a target antigen for HNSCC diagnosis and therapy.
