Mouse Anti-MAdCAM-1 (Mucosal Addressin Cell Adhesion Molecule 1)

Mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MadCAM-1) is a cell-surface immunogloblin (Ig) superfamily member composed of two extracellular Ig domains, followed by a mucin-like domain, a transmembrane domain, and a short cutoplasmic domain. The molecule is similar to ICAM1 and VCAM1. It interacts via its N-terminal Ig domain with the lymphocyte homing receptor alpha4 beta73, which plays a critical role in forming the gut-associated lymphoid system. MAdCAM-1 promotes the adhesion of T and B cells, monocytes/macrophages, and potentially eosinophils, basophils, and differentiated mast cells to the vascular endothelium. At least seven alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different protein isoforms have been found for this gene. The molecular weight is about 43kD, and it is highly expressed on high endothelial venules(VEC) and lamina propia venules found in the small intestine.

Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Bacterially expressed human MAdCAM-1.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS. No preservative added.
Purity
Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography from tissue culture supernatant.
Specificity
Recognizes human MAdCAM-1 (mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule -1). Clone CA102.2C1 has been reported to block the binding of human cells expressing alpha4 Beta7 to immobilized MAdCAM-1 in vitro.

Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
