Epitope tags are useful for the labeling and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation and immunostaining techniques. Due to their small size, they are unlikely to affect the tagged protein’s biochemical properties. The Myc epitope tag is widely used to detect expression of recombinant proteins in bacteria, yeast, insect and mammalian cell systems.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry, ChIP, Flow Cytometry and Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Western Blot: 1:1000; incubate membrane with diluted antibody in 5% nonfat dry milk, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween-20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight. Immunoprecipitation: 1:250 Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:1500-1:6000 Requires HIER using sodium citrate buffer pH6.0 Immunofluorescence (IC): 1:1000-1:2000 Flow Cytometry (Fixed/Permeabilized): 1:500-1:2000 ChIP: 1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to EQKLISEEDL aa410-419 of human c-Myc.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in 10mM HEPES, pH 7.5, 150mM sodium chloride, 0.1mg/ml BSA, 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol.
Purity
Ascites.
Specificity
Recognizes overexpressed proteins containing the Myc epitope tag. Recognizes the Myc-tag fused to either the amino- or carboxy- termini of targeted proteins in transfected mammalian cells. Species Crossreactivity: A broad crossreactivity is expected due to sequence homology.
