Mouse Anti-Troponin I, Cardiac, aa169-178 (cTnI)
Troponin, working in conjunction with tropomyosin, functions as a molecular switch, regulating muscle contraction in response to changes in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration. Troponin consists of three subunits, the Ca2+-binding subunit troponin C (TnC), the tropomyosin-binding subunit troponin T (TnT), and the inhibitory subunit troponin I (TnI). Troponin I binds to actin in thin myofilaments to hold the actin-tropomyosin complex in place, because of which myosin cannot bind to actin in relaxed muscle. When Calcium binds to the Troponin C it causes certain confomational changes which leads to dislocation of troponin I. The letter “I” is given due to its inhibitory character.
The tissue specific subtypes are
Slow-twitch skeletal muscle isoform troponin I, TNNI1 (1q31.3, 191042) Fast-twitch skeletal muscle isoform troponin I, TNNI2 (11p15.5, 191043) Cardiac troponin I, TNNI3 (19q13.4, 191044)

Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Free human Cardiac Troponin I
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.4, 0.09% sodium azide.
Purity
Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human cTnI between aa169-178. Reacts equally with free cardiac troponin I (cTnl) and cTnI forming complexes with other troponin components (in the presence of 5mM EDTA). Not affected by heparin, phosphorylation and oxidation. No crossreactivity with skeletal muscle troponin I.
