Cortisone is a steroid hormone that belongs to the group of glucocorticoids. It is used in the treatment of inflammatory conditions, such as infectious diseases and asthma. Cortisone has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects and can be used for the treatment of these conditions. Cortisone inhibits adipose tissue development by suppressing the expression of lipogenic enzymes and genes, which are involved in lipid synthesis. Cortisone has also been shown to have potential as a biomarker for identification of inflammation and infection, with higher levels found in patients with active inflammation or infection.
