Shows strong gastrointestinal motor stimulating (GMS) activity. Motilin receptor agonist. Stimulates smooth muscle cell contraction. Stimulates cholinergic neurons in a non-vagal pathway. Enhances gastrointestinal contractile activity and accelerates gastric emptying. Shows orexigenic activity with affinity for the growth-hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R, ghrelin receptor).
