2-(alpha-Naphthoyl)ethyltrimethylammonium iodide
Potent fluorescent inhibitor of choline acetyltransferase.
Solubility
Soluble in methanol. Slightly soluble in water (1mg/ml).
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with methanol. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Handling Notes
1. This product is not very stable in water and should not be heated during dissolution. 2. A stock solution in methanol can be made. Such stock solutions can be further diluted in aqueous buffers. If performing biological experiments, ensure the residual amount of methanol is insignificant (<0.1%), since it may have physiological effects at low concentrations.
