A potent agonist highly selective for group I (EC50 ≤3uM) over group II and III mGlu receptors (EC50 >40uM) and a potent agonist of AMPA receptors. Often used for inducing excitotoxic lesions of basal forebrain cholinergic neurons and spinal neurons.
