Potassium fluoride is used as a catalyst in the Aldol condensation of nitroalkanes (e.g. 1-Nitrohexane and aliphatic aldehydes (e.g. 2-Propyl Valeraldehyde. Potassium fluoride is also used as a reference standard for fluoride ion activity in analytical samples. Potassium fluoride is also found in dental products, and is thought to be toxic in high amounts.
