Methyl 2-Iodobenzoate is used as a reagent in the synthesis of Montelukast Sodium Salt; a selective leukotriene D4-receptor antagonist that is used as an antiasthmatic. Methyl 2-Iodobenzoate is also used as a reagent in the synthesis of isoquinolinone-based tricycles as polyribose polymerase-1 inhibitors.
