Imidazole hydrochloride is used to produce a polyclonal or monoclonal antibody that binds to phosphotungstic acid, fatty acid and imidazole hydrochloride. It has been used in the treatment of infectious diseases and autoimmune diseases. Imidazole hydrochloride inhibits the production of growth factor and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of picolinic acid-induced cardiotoxicity. This drug also has cardiac effects, which may be due to its ability to inhibit cardiac contractility and reduce myocardial oxygen consumption. Imidazole hydrochloride also displays metabolic effects, as it has been shown to induce congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathy in rats. Imidazole hydrochloride has also been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cells by interfering with their metabolism via hydroxylation reactions.
