2-Amino-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-6-methyl-4(1H)-pteridinone is an analog of tetrahydrobiopterin with cofactor activity for aromatic amino acid hydroxylases. It is also used to study mechanisms of nitric oxide (NO) synthase and free radical induced L-DOPA release from striatal tissue.
