Dihexa is a drug that belongs to the class of amides. It has been shown to have toxicological properties in cell culture experiments and animal studies. Dihexa is an inhibitor of p450, which is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of fatty acids into eicosanoids, such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes, and thromboxanes. These molecules are important mediators of inflammation, immune response, and blood clotting. This drug also inhibits growth factor activity and may be used in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. Dihexa has been shown to inhibit melanoma antigen and infectious disease cells by binding to copper ions with microbicidal activity. The molecule also binds platinum-based chemotherapy drugs with hepatocyte-like cells to form a complex that leads to apoptosis or cell death by necrosis.
