Geninthiocin, a thiopeptide antibiotic isolated from a Streptomyces sp., is a potent activator of the tipA gene, a bacterial transcription regulator involved in multidrug resistance. Geninthiocin displays a 10-fold selectivity for bacteria over mammalian cells lines.
