Antibiotic. Antibacterial. Weak antagonist of human endothelin receptor A (ETA) and B (ETB). Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) activity inhibitor. Grb2-Shc binding inhibitor. Potent aldose reductase inhibitor. Potent reversible, non-competitive soybean lipoxygenase-1 (LOX-1) inhibitor. Antioxidant. Free radical scavenger. Antifungal.
Synonyms

Source
Fungus Penicillium sp.
Molecular Formula
C21H23ClO5
Method for Determining Identity
Proton NMR
Appearance
Supplied as a yellow solid.
Solubility
DMSO, ethanol or DMF. Sparingly soluble in aqueous buffers.
Solubility in Aqueous Buffers
Dissolve in DMF and then dilute with the aqueous buffer of choice. Sclerotiorin has a solubility of ~0.3mg/ml in a 1:2 solution of DMF:PBS (pH 7.2) using this method. We do not recommend storing the aqueous solution for more than one day.
Storage and Stability
Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
