Endothelial Basal Medium MCDB 131 (Powder)
Base powder without supplements

MCDB 131 was developed by Knedler and Ham as a reduced serum-supplemented medium for the culture of human microvascular endothelial cells. This formulation has been reported to support clonal growth of human omental microvascular cells when supplemented with 0.7% dialyzed FBS, 10ng/mL EGF, and 1ug/mL hydrocortisone.

Appearance
Pale orange to orange, homogeneous, free-flowing powder
Solubility
Pink to red or orange, clear, complete
pH
As Reported
Endotoxin
≤1EU/ml
Directions per Liter
Dissolve 11.53g in 800-900ml of ddH2O, stirring gently until completely solubilized. Add 1.2g sodium bicarbonate with stirring. Adjust pH of the medium to 0.1-0.3 pH units below the desired level. Add additional water to bring the solution to 1L. Filter-sterilize using a 0.22 micron membrane filter. Aliquot into sterile containers. Do not autoclave. Contains heat-labile compounds that can be damaged with autoclaving.
Storage and Stability
Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept refrigerated and used within a short period of time.
