Myoglobin, Mouse (MB)

When myoglobin is found in the bloodstream, this is abnormal and can be diagnostically relevant. Myoglobin is a sensitive marker for muscle injury and can be used as a potential marker in the blood for detection of heart attacks. Myoglobin is released from damaged muscle tissue into the bloodstream and is filtered by the kidneys, potentially causing acute kidney injury.

Myoglobin Antigen from mouse heart tissue.
Protein
0.25-2.5mg/ml (Coomassie)
Post-Translational Modification
Receives a modified phosphoserine in position 4 and a modified phosphothreonine residue in position 68.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
