CCR3, a Chemokine Receptor, was cloned from human eosinophils (Daugherty et al., 1996). This receptor binds specifically the chemokine eotaxin and activates eosinophil leukocytes. CCR3 also responds to a variety of beta-chemokines (CC motif) including RANTES, monocyte chemotactic proteins, and mucosae-associated epithelial chemokine (MEC).
