Steroid receptors are ligand-dependent intracellular proteins that stimulate transcription of specific genes by binding to specific DNA sequences following activation by the appropriate hormone. Androgen receptors (AR) have been found in a variety of tissues, including reproductive organs, central nervous system and skeletal muscle.

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry, Western Blot, Gel Super Shift, Immunohistochemistry and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Immunofluorescence/Immunocytochemistry: 1:10-1:500 Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin): 2-4ug/ml Western Blot: 1:50-1:500 Detects an ~110kD protein representing androgen receptor in Human tissues. Immunohistochemical staining of androgen receptor in primate hypothalamus with this antibody results in intense nuclear staining. Immunoprecipitation: 1:10-1:500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
A 241 amino acid fusion protein corresponding to human androgen receptor. Cellular location: nuclear.
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, pH 7.4, 0.05% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 50ul sterile PBS.
Purity
Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Specificity
Recognizes human Androgen receptor. Does not crossreact with estrogen, progesterone or glucocorticoid receptors. Species Crossreactivity: rat, mouse and primate.
