| RhoGap20 encodes a potent Rho GTPase-activating protein, which is a direct downstream target of Rap1 in the neurite outgrowth. Overexpression of the protein induced inactivation of Rho for promoting the neurite outgrowth in a Rap1-dependent manner. It is also involved in rearrangements of the cytoskeleton and cell signaling events that occur during spermatogenesis. RhoGap20 gene is predicted to be a tumor suppressor, inactivated by deletion in breast cancer and also by chromosomal translocation in B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia. The protein is expressed in human brain, liver, ovary and spinal cord.
