Brain Natriuretic Protein is a protein secreted by the brain and the heart atria, stored mainly in cardiac ventricular myocardium. It can cause Natriuresis; Diuresis; Vasodilation; and inhibits secretion of Renin and Aldosterone. It improves heart function. BNP contains 32 Amino acids.

Storage and StabilityLyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute to nominal volume by adding sterile, dH2O, 0.1% HSA or BSA. Aliquot and store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
