Cathepsin L is a cystein protease. It is important for the overall degradation of proteins in lysosomes. Cathepsin L substrates include collagen, elastin and alpha 1 protease inhibitor. The protein is initially expressed as procathepsin L (42kD) and is proteolytically processed into 30kD and 21kD forms. This antibody recognizes both precursor and mature forms.

Applications
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot . Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
Western Blot: 2ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (formalin/acetone fixed tissues): 4ug/ml Optimal dilution determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Isolated from human lung cancer cell line EPLC32M1. The epitope is within the sequence GYGFEST (aa265-271 in procathepsin L and aa169-175 in the mature cathepsin L molecule).
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from 1.2% sodium acetate, 2% BSA, 0.01% sodium azide. Reconstitute with 1ml sterile PBS.
