Clone Host Grade Applications
Monoclonal Mouse Affinity Purified IH FC IF
CD52 is a 25-29kD glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)- anchored single chain, a remarkably small glycoprotein, which is typically expressed at high levels on thymocytes, lymphocytes, NK cells and monocytes/macrophages. It is expressed on some granulocytes, on epithelial cells of the male reproductive tract and on the majority of lymphoid malignancies, but not on erythrocytes and platelets. A somatic defect in the synthesis of GPI anchors (for example lymphocytes from patients with paroxysmal nocturnal haemoglobinuria (PNH)) may cause lack of expression of CD52 on the cell surface. CD52 may then be used as an index to diagnose PNH besides CD55 and CD59. All CD52 antibodies are characterized by a strong lytic activity with the human complement, irrespective of antibody isotype.
