Type V collagen is a minor component of the connective tissue, although it is present in many different types of connective tissue. Patients with defects in the type V collagen (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) have weakend connective tissue characterized by hyperstrechable joints and fragile, easily bruisable skin.

Applications
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution
ELISA: 1:50. Binds poorly to Collagen V when tested in ELISA with Collagen V coated directly onto the microtiter well. Immunohistochemistry: Has been used successfully on paraffin embedded and frozen, unfixed sections of human, bovine and canine skin, on rabbit and fetal bovine cornea and of new canine tissue associated with a biomaterial implant. If fixation of tissue is required, acetone or ethanol is recommended. Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Culure Medium
RPMI 1640 with 10% fetal calf serum
Hybridoma
NS1/1.Ag4.1. Female SJL/J mice, immunized i.p. with antigen adsorbed onto Al(OH)3.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
Acid-digested pepsin soluble canine type V collagen.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, pH 7.2, 15mM sodium azide.
Purity
Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography from culture supernatant.
Specificity
Recognizes canine Collagen Type V. Does not crossreact with type I, III or VI collagens. No evidence of crossreactivity with other connective tissue proteins (laminin, fibronectin, elastin). Species Crossreactivity: human, bovine, rabbit, sheep, porcine, kangaroo. Does not react with mouse, rat, guinea pig or chicken.
