Factor B is a component of the alternative complement pathway. The protein is a single chain polypeptide with a molecular mass of 93kD. Factor B is cleaved by factor D into the Ba component (30kD) and the Bb (63kD). Bb together with C3b forms the alternative pathway C3 convertase C3bBb. Plasma concentration is approximately 200ug/ml.

Recommended Dilutions	Western Blot: Recognizes the Bb fragment of factor
	B in its non-reduced form only.

Culture Medium	Dulbecco’s modified Eagle’s medium with 10% fetal calf serum.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Immunogen	Complement factor B isolated from human plasma.
Specificity	Recognizes the Bb fragment of human factor B. Antibody binding abolishes the formation of C3bBb complexes. In Western blotting after SDS-PAGE, it reacts with the Bb fragment of factor B in non-reduced form only. After coupling to an activated CNBr-sepharose column, this antibody is suitable for affinity purification of human factor B. Epitope specificity differs from that of C7850-63. Also differs from C7850-60 but slightly overlaps as determined by inhibition ELISA.
