Factor B is a component of the alternative complement pathway. The protein is a single chain polypeptide with a molecular mass of 93kD. Factor B is cleaved by factor D into the Ba component (30kD) and the Bb (63kD). Bb together with C3b forms the alternative pathway C3 convertase C3bBb. Plasma concentration is approximately 200ug/ml (1).

Applications	Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution	ELISA: 1:800.
	Western Blot: Recognizes the Ba fragment of factor
	B in its non-reduced form only.
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Culture Medium	RPMI 1640 with 2-10% fetal calf serum.
Hybridoma	P3X63-Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
