Glutathione is a tripeptide (gama-glutamylcysteinylglycine) molecule found in most mammmalian cells. It functions in basic metabolic processes such as serving as a sulfydryl buffer to maintain redox within the cell, participating in the transport of amino acids and detoxifying hydrogen and organic peroxides. Glutathione depletion can inhibit Th-1 associated cytokine production and favors a Th-2 associated immune response (3). Glutathione deficiency has also been linked to decreased patient survival in HIV-infected individuals. Overexpression of apoptotic protein Bcl-2 causes relocalization of glutathione from the cytoplasm into the nucleus where glutathione is thought to alter the redox and block caspase activity.

Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
