Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a disulfide-linked homodimeric cytokine that is secreted by T cells. IL-5 promotes the proliferation, differentation and activation of eosinophils. It binds to a receptor complex consisting of one IL-5 specific alpha chain and one non-binding common beta chain that is shared with the receptors for GM-CSF and IL-3.

Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Immunogen
Recombinant protein corresponding to Ile20-Ser134 from human IL-5, expressed Sf21 cells.
Form
Supplied as a lyophilized powder from PBS, 5% trehalose. Reconstitute with 1ml sterile PBS.
Purity
Purified by Protein G affinity chromatography from ascites.
Specificity
Recognizes human IL-5. Based on direct ELISA and Western Blot results, this antibody shows no crossreactivity with rmIL-5.
