The “classical” MHC Class I molecules are histocompatibility antigens encoded by the H-2 gene complex and consist of heterodimers of highly polymorphic alpha chains noncovalently associated with the invariant beta2-microglobulin. These antigens are expressed on most nucleated cells but expression varies on different cell types. MHC Class I molecules present endogenously synthesized peptides to CD8+ T lymphocytes, which are usually cytotoxic T cells. MHC Class I antigens expressed on thymic epithelial cells regulate the positive and negative selection of CD8+ T cells during T cell ontogeny.

Applications
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Complement-mediate cytoxicity. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Flow Cytometry: ≤1ug/10e6 cells Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Immunogen
BDF1 mouse splenocytes.
Form
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.09% sodium azide. Labeled with Biotin.
Purity
Purified.
Specificity
Recognizes an epitope in the alpha3 domain that is common to H-2Kd and H-2Dd. Binds to a common determinant in the alpha3 domains of H-2Kd and H-2Dd in the presence or absence of b2 microglobulin. It crossreacts with the alpha3 domain of H-2Kb.
