MOBP may play a role in compacting or stabilising the myelin sheath, possibly by binding the negatively charged acidid phospholipids of the cytoplasmic membrane. It is present in the major dense line of CNS myelin. There are 3 named isoforms produced by alternative splicing. MBP is abundantly expressed specifically in oligodendrocytes at the mRNA level. It is expressed exclusively in the CNS myelin.

Applications
Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
