Ovalbumin comprises about 60% of the solids in chicken egg white. Native ovalbumin is a globular monomer of molecular mass 45kD (1). It is structurally related to both serpins and lipcalins.

Applications	Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution	ELISA: 1:2500; Strong reaction is seen with Ovalbumin directly coated onto the microtiter well
	Western Blot: 1:2000; Reacts with Ovalbumin in reduced and unreduced forms after SDS-PAGE.
	Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Culture Medium	RPMI 1640 with 10% fetal calf serum.
Hybridoma	X63-Ag8.653 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c
	mice.
Storage and Stability	May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Immunogen	Ovalbumin isolated from chicken egg white, denatured by heat and formaldehyde.
Specificity	Recognizes denatured chicken ovalbumin; but cross-reacts with native OVA. Cross-reactivity to egg albumins from other species has not been tested. Epitope specificity differs from that of clones 6F162 and 6F163, as determined by inhibition ELISA.
Reacts with OA in denatured or modified forms (native OVA surface-adsorbed, heat-denatured or reduced). Strong reaction is seen in ELISA, with OA directly coated onto the microtiter well (3). In Western Blot, recognizes both denatured and native OVA adsorbed onto nitrocellulose; also recognizes both reduced and unreduced OVA forms.
