PAK2 is a widely expressed 58-62kD cytoplasmic ser/thr kinase of the PAK family, with substrates including ribosomal S6 and histone H4 proteins. The 524aa human PAK2 contains phosphorylation, acetylation (K38, K128) and myristoylation (G213) sites, a CRIB (cdc42/Rac interactive binding) domain aa74-87, a caspase-3 cleavage site after aa212, and a kinase domain aa249-499. Full-length PAK2 stimulates cell growth and motility, while the caspase cleaved PAK2 kinase domain 34kD is involved in cell death. Within the region used as an immunogen, human PAK2 shares 87% aa identity with mouse and rat PAK2.
