PRDM14 (PR [PRDI-BF1 and RIZ] domain containing protein 14) is a 64kD (predicted) member of the PR Domain family of proteins. It is expressed in embryonic stem cells and multiple tumor cell types. PRDM14 likely demonstrates histone methyltransferase activity, serving as a transcriptional repressor. It is suggested to block cell differentiation and maintain cell self-renewal, but also be necessary for germ cell lineage commitment. Human PRDM14 is 571aa in length. It contains one SET domain (aa253-371) followed by six C2H2 type Zn finger motifs (aa400-568). Over aa1-201, human PRDM14 shares only 46% aa identity with mouse PRDM14.
