AGRP (Agouti-related Protein, AGRT, ART) |
|
|
Description: AGRP, secreted hypothalamic factors regulated by the metabolic state in mammals, is involved in energy homeostasis and plays an important role in the control of feeding behavior. Agouti protein and Agouti-related protein are paracrine-signaling molecules that normally regulate pigmentation and body weight. The mature human protein is a single polypeptide chain of 112aa residues consisting of an N-terminal acidic region and a unique C-terminal cysteine-rich domain. Circular dichroism studies indicated that the purified protein contains primarily random coil and beta-sheet secondary structure. The hypothalamic expression of AGRP is regulated by leptin, and overexpression of AGRP in transgenic animals results in obesity and diabetes. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Peptide ELISA: 1:32,000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. |
