AXL receptor, an 894aa novel Type-I transmembrane protein, is a member of Cell adhesion molecule-related receptor tyrosine kinase family. A chronic myelogeneous leukemia-associated Oncogene, AXL is composed of unique 2 immunoglobulin-like and 2 Fibronectin III repeats in the extracellular region and a C-terminal tyrosine kinase domain. A multi-functional protein mediating Gas6 induced signal transduction; AXL receptor mediates anti-apoptosis, cell proliferation and survival through STAT3 activation, Akt phosphorylation, NF-B activation, Bcl-2 expression and caspase-3 inhibition. Gas6-Axl interactions are involved in regulation of multiple tissue processes including vascular remodeling, mesanglial cell proliferation in kidney, up regulating osteoclast function, protecting neurons from amyloid induced apoptosis in brain, mediating outer retinal pigment epithelial function in eye and cell adhesion during hematopoiesis. AXL receptor is over expressed in many cancers and diseases indicating a potential target for cancer, renal and anti-thrombotic therapies.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
