Bacillus anthracis PA (Protective Antigen) (Anthrax)
Anthrax PA (Protective Antigen) and Anthrax LF (Lethal Factor), along with Anthrax EF (Edema Factor), are toxins produced by Bacillus anthracis. All three of the proteins must be present for toxic entry into cells. PA is secreted from Bacillus anthracis as an 83kD (PA83) protein which is cleaved by furin protease, releasing a 20kD fragment. The 63kD portion (PA63) of the cleavage product forms a heptamer, which binds the toxins LF and EF. This complex enters via receptor-mediated endocytosis where LF and EF exert their toxic effects.

Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Recognizes Bacillus anthracis PA (Protective Antigen) (Anthrax). Bacillus anthracis PA (Protective Antigen) is cleaved from the 83kD form to the 63kD form at aa164-167. Thus B0003-05M4 should recognize both the 83kD and 63kD PA forms, but not the 20kD cleavage fragment.
