Molecular Weight:

ED50 <1.0 ng/ml (>1 x 106units/mg). The biological activity was determined by measuring the dose-dependent proliferation of TF-1 cells. Cardiotrophin-1 is a member of the IL-6 family of cytokines which includes IL-6, Leukemia Inhibitory Factor, Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor, Oncostatin M and Interleukin 11. The receptor for Cardiotrophin-1 is gp130 (CD130). Cardiotrophin-1 was originally identified by its ability to stimulate cardiac hypertrophy. As with all members of the IL-6 family of cytokines, Cardiotrophin-1 induces hepatic expression of acute phase proteins.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer or dH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
