Description:
Dextrose Tryptone Broth is a non-selective medium which can support the growth of a variety of mesophilic and thermophilic microorganisms. It contains the pH indicator bromcresol purple. Inoculated filter membranes are incubated on this medium at 55°C to detect and enumerate thermophilic "flat sour" sporulating microorganisms. Isolation and enumeration of “flat-sour” thermophiles and mesophiles in food by membrane filter technique.


Directions per Liter: Suspend 30g of the powder in 1L of distilled water. Mix thoroughly. Heat with frequent agitation and boil for 1 minute to completely dissolve the powder. Dispense into appropriate containers, loosen caps and autoclave for 15 minutes at 121ºC (15psi).

Storage and Stability: Store powdered media at 4ºC. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept at 4°C and used within a short period of time.

Appearance: Grayish-beige, homogeneous, free flowing powder.

Solubility: Purple, clear, complete.
