Technical Data
D3931-61M
DNA Methyltransferase 1 (DNMT, MCMT, M.Hsa1, DNA (cytosine-5-)-methyltransferase 1, DNA MTase Mmu1, M.HsaI)
Description:
Inactivation of tumor suppressor genes is a key component of the development of all common forms of human cancers. Aberrant methylation may contribute to many of the changes, both physiological and pathological, associated with aging, including tumor development. Hypermethylation of CpG island-containing promoters is associated with the inactivation of genes important to tumor angiogenesis and progression. DNA methytransferase (DNMT1) is necessary for the maintenance of the methylation process.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide representing a portion of human DNA (cytosine-5-)methyltransferase 1 encoded within exon 32 (LocusLink ID 1786).
Purity:
Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
Form
Tris-citrate/phosphate pH 7-8
Specificity:
This antibody is specific to human DNMT1. Species Crossreactivity: Can be used to detect DNMT1 in human. Reactivity in mouse is likely based on similarity of sequence between the mouse ortholog and the peptide used for this antibody.
Intended for research use only. Not for use in human, therapeutic, or diagnostic applications.
