Recombinant IL-1 -chain comprises a 159 amino acid fragment (113-271) corresponding to the mature IL-1 chain and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.

Interleukin 1 is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by a wide variety of cell types, including macrophages, osteoblasts, monocytes and hepatocytes. Circulating levels of are normally low and only rise after stimulation by agents such as those produced by inflammation, infection or microbial endotoxins. IL-1 possesses a wide variety of biological activities and exerts its effects by binding to specific cell surface receptors.

Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
