Lipoprotein Receptor, Low Density (LDLR, LDL Receptor)
The LDL Receptor (160kD mature or glycosylated receptor; 120kD precursor or unglycosylated receptor) plays a key role in cellular cholesterol homeostasis.

Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, FACS and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1:100-1:200 using ECL (non-reducing)
FACS: 1:10
Immunohistochemistry: 1:20
Note: It is best to work with partialy purified material. In the case of rat (probably also mouse), induce LDLR expression prior to the isolation of culture cells or tissue homogenate. It is always better to use cultured cells. In rat, use estradiol to induce LDLR expression.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Additional Specificity Data:
May be used for visualization of the LDL receptor in Western blot, independent of its oxidation state. Binds to the LDL receptor in the native state and under reducing conditions. Exhibits high affinity binding for LDL receptors on the cellular surface (eg monocytes). The antibody was found superior for cellular binding studies when compared with the mouse monoclonal anti-human LDL receptor antibody produced by the mouse IgC7 hybridoma cell line.

Positive Control:
HepG2 cells and liver sections

Negative Control:
NIH 3T3 cells and normal skin

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Purified by Protein A affinity chromatography.
Supplied as a liquid in PBS, 0.5% BSA.
Recognizes human LDLR. Does not inhibit binding of LDL. In Western blot, recognizes the 160kD of LDLR and a 120kD band of the LDLR precursor from fibroblasts, hepatocytes and monocytic cells cultured in the presence of lipoprotein-deficient serum. Sequence not conserved in VLVL Receptor and LRP. Species Crossreactivity: rat. Species Sequence Homology: mouse and bovine.
