Malt Agar is used for the detection of yeasts and molds from dairy products, food and other materials. Its low acidity inhibits the growth of most bacteria. The high carbohydrate content enhances the rapid growth of fungi and yeasts.

Directions per Liter: Dissolve 45 grams in 1L of ddH2O stirring gently with heating. Bring the solution to a boil for one minute to dissolve completely. DO NOT OVERHEAT. Dispense into appropriate containers, loosen caps and autoclave for 15 minutes at 121C (15psi).

Storage and Stability: Store powdered media at RT. Opened bottles should be capped tightly and kept in a dark, low humidity environment. Prepared media should be kept refrigerated and used within a short period of time.
