Placenta growth factor (PlGF), a homodimeric glycoprotein that is homologous to vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), is mitogenic to endothelial cells and protects trophoblast from apoptosis. Alternative splicing of mature mRNA gives rise to three known isoforms of PlGF. PlGF is expressed by human trophoblast during normal pregnancy, however, it is not known which isoforms are produced.

Recombinant Human PLGF-2 produced in insect cells is a homodimer comprised of glycosylated polypeptide chains containing 2 x 152 amino acids and having a total molecular mass of 44kD. Recombinant Human PLGF-2 is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques

Biological Activity:
Biologically active when compared to standard. Can bind to immobilized rh-sFlt-1 (100ng/well) with a linear range at 0.3-10ng/ml corresponding to a specific activity of 0.1-3.4 MIU/mg.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized human PLGF-2 although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -20C. Upon reconstitution human PLGF-2 may be stored at 4C for up to 7 days and for long-term storage, in aliquots at -20C. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Molecular Weight:
44kD
Source: Insect cells
Purity: 80% as determined by RP-HPLC and SDS-PAGE
Form: Supplied as a lyophilized powder containing BSA. Reconstitute in sterile 20mM acetic acid to a concentration of 100ug/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.
