Rab5A (Member RAS Oncogene Family, Ras-related Protein Rab-5A, Rab GTPase)
Rab5a (Ras-related protein Rab-5a) is a 24kD lipid-anchored GTP-binding protein and member of the small GTPase superfamily, expressed on the cytoplasmic side of the plasma membrane and early endosomes, which plays a key role as a rate-limiting component of the endocytic pathway.

Rab5a cycles between a GDP-bound inactive form and its GTP-bound active form, generated by GDP/GTP exchange factors. It is the active form of Rab5a which associates with the membrane and regulates endocytic uptake and transfer to early endosomes whilst the inactivated form, generated by GTP hydrolysis, interacts with Rab escort protein (REP) and GDP dissociation inhibitor (GDI) and dissociates from the cell membrane for recycling.

Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1:500-1:2,000
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells from Balb/c mice.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
