SSA1 (Sjogren Syndrome Antigen A1, 52kD Ribonucleoprotein Autoantigen SS-A/Ro, RO52, RNF81, Tripartite Motif Protein 21, TRIM21)
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes three zinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. This protein is part of the RoSSA ribonucleoprotein which includes a single polypeptide and one of four small RNA molecules. The RoSSA particle localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus. RoSSA interacts with autoantigens in patients with Sjogren syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus. The function of the RoSSA particle has not been determined. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants for this gene have been described; however, the full length nature of one variant has not been determined.

Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunodiffusion. Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Recognizes human SSA1. Shows no reactivity at a dilution of 1:100 when tested against purified SSB, Scl-70, Sm, Sm/RNP, and Jo-1 antigens in an ELISA system designed to detect all IgG subclasses.
